Crankworx Colorado - attempting to run this shit...
Well I'm up here at the 2009 Crankworx Colorado where John Cowan has laid out a very interesting course. It is super testing for all the riders and has some major jumps/stunts that fuck with your mind at the start to say the least. Practice was supposed to be Wednesday but it was thunder, lighting, and more rain then you could imagine so it was post phoned till Thursday. That meant that it was going to be practice in the morning on Thursday and qualifying Thursday afternoon, but we woke up to the exact same weather we went to bed with on Wednesday and the qualifiers were canceled and said to go Today (Friaday). Riders got quite a bit of practice in on the course yesterday when the rain and wind would stop for a couple hours at a time and it looked like it was going to run pretty smooth today. Riders were up on course as early as 9AM and shreding until 20 minutes ago... and then the rain came down once again!
pretty much the course looked like this in the morning...

and looks like this right now, plus it is still pouring rain and about 50mph winds!

Judging by this and the riders thoughts, the qalis might be held off till tomorrow... I'll let you know by tonight what is going down.
OH, and this fucking thing is SO gnarly! If that case pad wasn't put up then every rider in the entire contest would be in the hospital by now... such a cool stunt but so fucking intimidating! Then you add in sideways 50mph wind and you have a bloody scary mess. Greg Watts fell off the backside (the biggest part) but he is OK and then another kid fell off the inside and snapped his wrist.
